Blue Barrel Collection Drives

We are starting a new Blue Barrel collection drive for the winter of 2015. Our last drive was in support of homeless veterans. We collected about $350 worth of clothing, hygiene products, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc. There were 3 deliveries to Green Doors, an organization that provides direct support to homeless veterans. Another delivery of towels was made to the Veteran’s Administration. Thank you to everyone who contributed. Click here to read read the thank you notes from the two organizations.

New Blue Barrel Collection Drive: WINTER CLOTHING AND OTHER ITEMS FOR FAMILIES OF REFUGEE CHILDREN AT MURCHISON MIDDLE SCHOOL

We are starting a new Blue Barrel collection drive at Agudas Achim. Our last drive was in support of homeless veterans. We collected about $350 worth of clothing, hygiene products, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc. There were 3 deliveries to the Green Door, an organization that provides direct support to homeless veterans. The refugee population in the Austin ISD has exploded in recent years. Murchison Middle School currently has 27 refugee/asylee children. Most are from Africa, Iraq, and Afghanistan. For many, this will be their first winter. Their families need many items, with winter clothing (including gloves, mittens, caps, sweaters, jackets, long pants, etc.) the most important at this time. Items may be for any age, since the Muchison children have siblings and parents that also need help. They also need furniture and many household items. One family is expecting a baby in December, and needs a stroller with a rain shield and an infant car seat.  Please bring only new or gently used (i.e., good quality) items. Place items in the blue barrels by the back entrance (across from the receptionist’s desk To donate large items or if you are willing to volunteer to help refugee families, please contact Lea Isgur at leaisgur@earthlink.net.

Please DON'T donate: Other clothes or books for adults.

*Many families can not afford to use air conditioning so they need fans.

If you could lead either of these projects, contact Lea Isgur at  leaisgur@earthlink.net
