Welcome to USY and Kadima! We’re so glad you stopped by!

What is AAUSY? AAUSY is Congregation Agudas Achim’s very own Jewish youth group, open to students in grade 9 to 12. It is a fabulous opportunity for teens to make new friends, get together monthly (we aim for the 3rd weekend of every month) and be Jewish together!

What is Kadima? Kadima means Forward in Hebrew and is the youth group specifically for  grade 6 - 8. It is a great chance for young students to develop close Jewish friends as they embark on their Jewish young adulthood.

Past events for our youth groups include: Dave & Busters, Blazer Tag, Main Event, JumpStreet, Trapeze School, overnights, mini-golf, and many more!

Interested? Please fill out a membership form HERE. We cannot wait to see you soon!

Please note: scholarships are always available. No child will be turned away. For more information contact USY/Kadima Advisor at

Meet Your USY and Kadima Advisors!

Alisa Baron - Alisa Baron is the co-advisor for USY. She has been working at CAARS since Fall 2012 as the 4th grade Hebrew language and liturgy teacher. Alisa previously taught 4th and 6th grade Hebrew and Judaic Studies at Temple Israel in Columbus, OH. She was engaged in USY all four years of high school and held numerous chapter positions. She even had the chance to go to Israel with USY and it was an incredible, eye-opening experience! She loves having this new opportunity to work with teens. USY is an organization that shaped her Jewish life and identity and she is excited to share her love of Judaism in any way possible. Alisa is currently working as a bilingual speech language pathologist and is pursuing a PhD in speech language pathology at UT. She currently serves as the volunteer coordinator for JGrads, a Jewish graduate student organization through Chabat at UT. She continues to develop her Jewish identity and knowledge through learning with Rabbi Blumofe (Friday morning learning is fantastic!) and Rabbi Kirschbaum on a weekly basis.

Sam Rosenstein - Sam Rosenstein joined AAUSY as our USY co-advisor and Kadima advisor this year after joining Congregation Agudas Achim as a 5th grade religious school teacher and b'nei mitzvah tutor last year. Before moving to Austin, Sam worked as a religious school teacher at his congregation in Dallas for over 12 years, teaching both Hebrew and Jewish studies to students ranging from 4th grade through high school. During this time, he also served as first as a volunteer and later as advisor to the synagogue's youth groups, and lead youth High Holiday services for a number of years. Sam is a passionate "USY lifer", having been a founding member of Rashi USY (Richardson, Texas), where he served as the second president in chapter history. Sam is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Jewish Education from Hebrew College in Newton, Massachusetts, where he is focusing on Israel Education and Special Education. Sam’s passion is bringing Torah, the State of Israel, and a love of Judaism alive for his students, USYers and Kadimaniks. He enjoys working with the USY board members to mentor their skills in leading the chapter, planning and carrying out their own events, and finding new and different ways to enjoy living Jewishly.
