FIGHTING HUNGER IN ISRAEL AND AUSTIN
Our goal is to raise $5000
3% of the proceeds of the annual Mishloach Manot (Purim) campaign ($583) have been donated to Leket of Israel to date.
How can you help?
- Support our bake sales following CAARS on Sundays in the months of March, April and May
- Bring your donations of healthy, non-perishable food (especially canned meats and tuna, canned vegetables, pasta and canned pasta sauce, beans, healthy cereals and peanut butter)
Your donations support the following organizations:
Serving as the Israel's National Food Bank and largest food rescue network, Leket Israel works to alleviate the problem of nutritional insecurity among the growing numbers of Israel's poor.
Each year, with the help of 45,000 volunteers, Leket Israel rescues over 770,000 meals and 20 million lbs of produce and perishable goods and Leket's Sandwiches for Kids program enlists hundreds of volunteers to prepare and distribute over 7,800 sandwiches each school day for children from underprivileged homes in 113 schools spanning nearly 40 cities from Kiryat Shemona, Tzfat, and Tiberias in Israel's north to Be'er Sheva and Netivot in the south.
The Capital Area Food Bank of Texas (CAFB) provides food and grocery products to more than 300 Partner Agencies in 21 Central Texas counties.
For every five pounds of food donated, CAFB can provide the equivalent of four meals!
Following Shabbat services on March 23, CAARS and CAA will be hosting Sandwich Shabbat. Students will be making sandwiches for the congregational Kiddush luncheon. All are welcome!
